NOTE: It says “How I lost 20 lbs in 10 days!” and NOT “How YOU Can Lose 20 lbs in 10 Days”.

Because if I did that title the story, “How You Can Lose 20 lbs in 10 Days”, I’d have to put one of those wacky medical disclaimers, along the lines of:

This story does not contain medical advice. The contents of this story are intended for informational, educational and comedic purposes only and not for the purpose of rendering medical nor fitness advice.

Please consult your physician for personalized health advice. Always seek the advice of a physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions regarding a health condition and/or weight loss.

For some strange reason, I really want to use the word absquatulation… but have had no place to use nor say it in the past year so thanks for letting me use it here. IF you feel this story is not for you then please “absquatulate” immediately.

For the record, I really wanted to do this story via a series of daily Youtube videos, but my MacBook Pro died on me the other day and I am trying to not be sad. I know I could shoot the videos on my iPhone but I’m stubborn and haven’t eaten since last year, and I miss my MacBook Pro, so please bear with me as I compose this on my wonderful Mother’s Chromebook while my Mac gets repaired.

In my own mind, I am one of the world’s greatest “fasters” and “juicers”. Back in 2013 I ate NOTHING and drank green vegetable juice (only) for 70 days and lost a ton of weight. If I recall correctly, I started around 315 lbs and got down to 238lbs. I reclaimed my health, my life and was the healthiest version of myself.

What inspired me was watching a documentary filmed in 2010 by Joe Cross called, “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead.” While road-tripping across America Joe (from Australia) meets a 429 pound morbidly obese man named Phil at a truck stop who suffers from the same rare autoimmune disease disorder that he does. They joked that Phil was one cheeseburger away from a heart attack, which was sad but probably very true.

Phil drank green juices (only) for 60 days and dropped 97 pounds. In the 6 months following principle production of the Documentary… with sensible eating and a healthy fitness routine, he lost another 107 pounds through diet and juicing. I said to myself, if he can do it, well then so can I. And I did, and it was amazing!

During the month of Ramadan, my brothers and sisters of Muslim faith fast from dawn until dusk. Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, and peoples of many other faiths all take part in traditional fasting.

Yogis, healers, mystics, monks and great thinkers like Pythagoras, Aristotle, Hippocrates, Plato, and Socrates have all praised the benefits of fasting. Even Jesus is said to have fasted for 40 days and 40 nights. I believe it could be Arnold Ehret who really brought the concept to the mainstream. His book from 1910, “Rational Fasting” is a great go-to resource for fasting.

SIDE NOTE: Each day I’ll post some of the articles and videos that I am reading/watching to stay informed and educated.

Dr. Jason Fung has great books like “The Obesity Code” and “The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting.” HERE is his “Therapeutic Fasting” Video.

Longevity Doctor Peter Attia keeps promising us a book. He really got me into long Intermittent Fasts. I just heard him on Joe Rogan’s podcast saying that he is into OMAD (One Meal A Day). Essentially he is on a 22 hour daily fast with a 2-hour eating window (22/2) where-as the normal intermittent fast is 16 hours fasted with an 8-hour eating window (16/8). Please listen to Dr. Attia’s podcast or his TED Talk, regarding the obesity crisis.

I try to keep my finger on the pulse of the latest science in regard to fasting. I like what Gavin McGowen is doing over at The Interstellar Plan. He finds all the latest scientific abstracts and publishes them. He also blends amazing herbs for anti-aging, supreme health, and longevity.

Gavin is hardcore. He promotes the benefits of doing prolonged intermittent fasts; 44/4, 66/6 and 88/8. Yes, 88 hours of fasting and an 8-hour eating window. That’s essentially eating once every 3 days! His blends seem awesome, yet very pricey and I can’t wait to try them out.

MY STATS: Height 6' 3". Current weight 287 lbs. GOAL WEIGHT: 267 lbs. I’m a proponent of setting BIG goals!

DAY 1: Weight: 287.8 pounds (130.5 kilograms)

Actually my “Day One” falls on January 1st, so go figure.

My Mom wanted to have lunch with me. I told her that I had already begun my New Year’s resolution but would be happy to keep her company. She chose Famous Dave’s BBQ. She had the roasted bbq chicken platter with an extra slice of cornbread. YUM!!

BAI Antioxidant Water

I stayed true and only drank water. I prepare my water “Snake Diet” style (Google it if you want).

5,000 mg of Potassium (KCL).

4,000 mg of Pink Himalayan salt (NACL) to prevent headaches/cramping.

I did notice that I was pissing like a racehorse all night. I didn’t count the number of times, but it felt like every hour on the hour. Tomorrow night I’ll count how many times I go potty.

Here’s a boring scientific article about potassium and sodium excretion during fasting: HERE

DAY 2: Weight: 284 pounds (-3.8 lbs)

Helped my Brother-in-law, Cory, move furniture for a few hours. My energy was good, not tired.

When we were finished moving, my sister called to say that the family was having dinner. Guess what they are having? BBQ!

Cory said, “Well, you are on a Water fast, so what do you do??” Hanging onto my every word I replied, “Well” (dramatic pause) “You drink water.” And he asked, “Well what do you eat?” Dramatic pause number two…. I said, “Well, you drink water!” He grinned and laughed encouraging, “I don’t see how you do it!”

City Barbeque; Seemed delicious. Smelled good. If you love BBQ you gotta try this place out. If your family goes, I HIGHLY recommend ordering “The Motherload”. You get brisket, pulled pork, turkey, 1/2 slab of ribs, 1/2 chicken, 2 sausages, 6 sides, cornbread, and Texas toast. For dessert, they all shared the “Triple Chocolate Cake.”

City Barbeque smelled great!

I texted my best friend, Tara Lou, and told her that I was yet again back at another BBQ joint and ONLY drinking water. She replied back to me, “I couldn't do it. You such a trooper!”

Bedtime: Taking one tsp of powdered Magnesium (Mg) and some Baking Soda (NaHCO₃)

DAY 3: Weight: 279.4 pounds (-8.4 lbs)

For full disclosure, when I weigh myself on my digital scale, I weigh myself THREE times. On. Off, and back on the scale a total of three times. I take the highest weight and record that as my weight for the day.

Feeling good today. (And for enquiring minds I pee’d 6 times throughout the night).

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Damn water is expensive! This new-fangled BLK water was $2.79! (Maybe I’ll Tweet them to see if they will sponsor me.)

With a normal ketogenic diet, you should reach ketosis in about 4 to 5 days (if you can keep your carbohydrates under 50g/day), but with a water fast, one should reach ketosis (burning fat for fuel) in 48 to 72 hours. That should be happening to my body bout right now.

DAY 4: Weight: 279 pounds (-8.8 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

I woke up super early and feeling fantastic today. A stall in weight loss.

Perhaps I didn’t drink enough water yesterday. I will add in some cardio today and drink a gallon of water.

Cardio: Home Stationary Bike: 55mins and 55 seconds. 100 sit ups and 100 pushups

I have been looking for this video by Dr. Edward Group for a few days. Watch it HERE. Dr. Group calls water fasting the most cost-effective method of healing in the world.

He claims that you can eliminate disease for $1.99/day (the cost of water). That you will receive a $120,000 embryonic stem cell treatment for FREE by simply water fasting! Other benefits include; Weight loss, Anti-cancer benefits, Slows Aging, Induced Autophagy (or cellular cleansing).

Bua Tong Waterfalls (Sticky Waterfalls) Chiang Mai, Thailand

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot water.

DAY 5: Weight: 279 pounds (-8.8 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Weight on the scale stayed the same, but I feel AMAZING!

Have you ever noticed that you only notice your body when it’s in pain? Like you never notice your throat until it’s itchy, sore and it hurts to swallow. You never notice your shoulder until something goes wrong.

Today I spent time noticing my body and being MINDFUL. Several months ago I was having tremendous pain in my hands. I always assumed that it was from punching bags during my boxing training. My hands would hurt so bad at night that I would awake every 45 or 50 minutes with the feeling of a thousand needles being pressed into the back of my hand.

Last night, I had no pain. I slept the entire night except for a quick bathroom trip around 4:00 am. This is incredible. I would not wish that hand pain on your worst enemy.

Cardio: Got in 10,500 steps this afternoon!

I don’t know how I’ve done it, but I actually spent $50 at the grocery store! I’m supposed to be on a water diet. Water is FREE, I know. But faucet water is crap, and the alkaline water is upwards of $3.00 per gallon.

For full disclosure, I bought my lovely Mother groceries and I am trying to be “#1 Son In The World” for two years back-to-back.

I did buy a pouch of some new-fangled water called HTWO. Going to give it a try.

HTWO- HydrogenWater.

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot Chamomile Tea

Yeah (I know) my weight on the scale is stalled but how’s your KLOTHO bro?! https://www.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/ajprenal.00037.2011

DAY 6: Weight: 277.2 pounds (-10.6 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Here is part two of Dr. Edward Group’s video regarding water fasting. Watch it HERE. He goes on to explain that fasting increases your growth hormone and maintains lean muscle mass.

Do you know how humans actually burn fat? HERE is a great article for you to consider: https://theconversation.com/how-does-your-body-burn-fat-97813

An adipocyte (lipocyte or FAT cell) are cells in humans that are primarily composed of adipose tissue and are specialized in storing energy as fat.

Cardio: Got in 12,000 steps! Walked to Starbucks. Around the halfway point I drank one shot of Expresso to fuel my walk back.

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot water.

Good night and bon nuit!

DAY 7: Weight: 273.6 pounds (-14.2 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Meditated….. I visualized myself owning a few condos like this $98,000,000 pad on Madison Avenue in New York City called, Le Penthouse.”

I envisioned me and you there along with our friends having a fun evening, maybe watching one of my films or simply relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.

I wonder if the cute DOG is included?

When I lived in Marrakech, Morocco I was at my friend, Mous Mous’s store in the Medina. He sells all sorts of exotic herbs, lotions, potions, soaps, teas and everything healthy for humans. I grabbed a few licorice root sticks which I totally forgot about until now.

I assume that my brain wants to chew on something, as I have had no solid food in 7 days.

Licorice root sticks are said to:

I need to keep my mind occupied and reduce stress, so these root sticks will be my friends for the next few days.

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot water.

DAY 8: Weight: 271.6 pounds (-16.2 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Listened to: Joe Rogan Experience #1108 — Peter Attia

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot water.

DAY 9: Weight: 268.6 pounds (-19.2 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Helping my brother-in-law move furniture again today. Felt great super strong.

Lots of energy. No pain. No worries. Hakuna matata!!

DAY 10: Weight: 267.5 pounds (-20.3 lbs)

Morning: Took a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Lemon Juice.

Morning cardio: Stationary bike for about 30 minutes

It’s January 10th and I’m headed to a Christmas party tonight!

A family friend was out of town for Christmas last month. Their house (mansion) was beautifully decorated for Christmas but nobody ever got a chance to see it.

They are back in town and having a dinner party, and guess what I’m having?

Water, Water, Water!!!

Evening: Magnesium powder in hot water.

DAY 11: Weight: 266 pounds (120.65 kilograms)

Break-Fast

I broke with Coconut Water.

Every few hours I’d consume a bite or two of Avocado soaked in BONE BROTH.

Papaya, and some Yakult (probiotic enzymes) before bedtime.

You really want to avoid animal products to start off, as protein-rich foods require more digestive burden. You also want to avoid simple raw food (like raw vegetables) which also places a higher burden on the digestive system than their cooked counterparts.

Think of your digestive tract like that of a baby’s: would you feed a cute baby a big ol’ steak? Didn’t think so.

Although it will only take a few days to build back up to your “regular” diet, these days are crucial to support your body through the transition.

Sample “Foods” to reintroduce:

  • bone broth
  • soft cooked organic veggies (preferably cooked in the broth)
  • 100% organic vegetable juice
  • organic berries + low glycemic fruit
  • organic avocado
  • organic sauerkraut
  • high quality (grass-fed/ organic) unpasteurized cottage cheese (raw), organic coconut milk kefir yogurt, coconut yogurt
  • probiotics
  • glutamine powder

I lost 20 pounds in the year 2020 and it’s only the 11th of January! Best of luck to you and your goals.
